When I bought my house one thing that bothered me was the paint chipping and feeling of the garage floor. Well, I stripped the paint and put Killz (sealer and primer) on the floor.. But what kinda paint do you paint a garage floor with? Oil Base? Water Base? do they make a waterproof paint or should i paint it and put a water sealer over it? I guess I could just ask the people at home depot, even though everyone that works there is about 17 and doubt they have knowledge or experience in painting.

It's called Garage Floor Paint.

I have had my house for 5 years now and my garage was painted before I got it. I have since used Oil Based, Epoxy and Garage Floor Paint. None of them hold up to the test of time and require touch ups and repaints. I sand blasted my entire garage floor and had a guy come in and actually stained the floor to a nice gray finish. Won't chip, unless you take a chunk of concrete out. It is the way to go.

If your garage floor is concrete, and you want to paint it, then purchase a concrete paint. You don't need any special sealers or such like.Perhaps it isn't the Home Depot you should be phoning. Why not try a Paint shop?Good Luck!

they offer a rhino lining type of paint that will give you a heavy duty seal but if you have kids or are afraid of someone getting hurt on the rough sandpaper like surface they do offer a silicone type water proof and weather proof paint often used on playground equipment. Its made to take a beating and still hold up its shine and protect against rust and cracks and will usually last from 20-30 years without having to be touched up.

I would use an oil based enamel. There are 2 part epoxy paints that will do the job and last forever. good luck.
