I know this has been asked before, but seriously. You lose the two points when you ask the question, but you get three points when you pick a best answer! Let me know what you think and I'll pick the best answer in the morning.
Goodnight everyone!

Ok. Wow. I am overtired. I meant you lose five points. Duh!?!
But still, reward the people for working hard to answer your questions!

I agree. I always look back at the questions that I have answered to see if it has been acknowledged even with a thumbs up or thumbs down.
To me, it is just a courtesy to acknowledge that someone has taken the time to answer you, kind of like a thank you.

1) They are too busy and forget
2) They don't really care about the points
3) They asked a dumb question and got all dumb (sarcastic) answers.
4) They took the best answer and didn't bother with the points because the answer was the only thing that mattered...then they disappear from YA altogether.
sometimes people use YA just once or twice. But it could be for a lot more reasons. I don't know about you, but I am not going to lose sleep if I don't get my 3 points back. I'm losing enough sleep already being on here so much.

Honestly the first time I didn't pick a best answer was because I was new to it, and didn't understand how it worked right away. Otherwise, I usually get busy with other things and sometimes even forget I asked a question in the first place.

A lot of times people have their own answer to their question before they ask it and get annoyed when everyone comes up with different or opposite viewpoints. The asker won't want to side with the opposing views so they just drop it without choosing. You might have noticed that there are a lot of leading questions on yahoo answers.

Sometimes it can't be avoided. It has happened to me where I could not be around my computer for a couple days and the time lapses. I do appreciate the hard work that people put into there answers cause I myself spend hours sometimes answering a question trying to help. I can't speak for everyone but that's how it happens sometimes.
