Many women don't get their period as long as they breast feed, others get it a month after giving birth, it varies.

There is no SET time...there are 'generalities'. This is unique to every individual and even to every pregnancy. Breastfeeding CAN lengthen the amount of time before you start your period. If you do not breastfeed you will likely start your period sooner (as soon as 4-6 weeks) after giving birth.

Please note...I have a friend who never got their period back...but did get pregnant, even though they were breastfeeding. You can get pregnant again even if you do not start a period.
