I'm playing football next year (Wr or Db) and our games (JV) will be at 10 in the morning. We also suit up for friday night games just in case theres a shortage of Varsity players. My vision is ok, not great. So i was wondering if i should or could wear a visor (clear) to help with my eyes? or does a doctor need to sucscribe one?

Wearing a visor is A) for looks and B) to protect you from debris or eye-gougers. There is no vision correction that you will receive from a visor and it is not necessary that a doctor prescribe one to you unless the coach demands it.

JV players don't need visors. Sorry dude, it just looks like a guy over-accessorizing to look important. Stick to sound football technique and don't sweat the style points. Nobody has ever made Varsity because they wore a sweet visor. Save the money and by yourself some good cleats and gloves.

Visors will not help with your eyesight, perhaps you need sports goggles or contact lenses.

Clear visors are manly to keep fingers from poking you in the eyes. Ask your coach if it is okay to wear a visor before purchasing one.

Ummm..I don't think the visors are prescription like glasses. The clear help protect eyes, and the tinted act like sunglasses. Your best bet would be to wear contacts, and maybe a visor to keep debris out of your eyes.

The visor is used only to protect your eyes from being poked during the game. I recommend getting contacts if you are going to play football since being a receiver or d-back and not being able to see is a bad combo.

The visor will not help your vision. Check with your optometrist and get some solid sports specific goggle/glasses to wear. I officiated with the Bolle Vigilante 2.0 with a Rx adaptor and my lenses inside.

Just go out and play the game. Forget about what 'visor' to wear or what kind of gloves the pros use. You don't need either.

Nuh dawg you don't need doc's approval. It's just that you are better off without the dark visors at night...Don't wear them at night games.
