I like the class of 1999 George Brett, Robin Yount, Nolan Ryan, Orlando Cepeda, and Nester Chylak. You could not ask for a classier group of guys or for five guys that played the game with more intensity and more passion than these men!

I gotta agree with you. The '99 class was great. They were all great players and good people on top of that. Last years was good too, but its two great players against three. In my opinion Brett is the second best third baseman ever (behind Schmidt) and Ryan is among the best pitchers to ever play the game. Adding Yount and Cepeda to the group puts it over the top and makes it the best in recent history.

I will take this last year's induction class over just about any other years within the past 10 years. Both player's (Cal Ripken Jr. and Tony Gwynn Sr.) are all-time greats that have not only fantastic stats, but also fantastic attidtudes. Cal Ripken was the prototypical SS of the modern era; He hit for power (431 HR), a steady average (.276 lifetime), played superb defense (.956 F%), and did this all over a sterling 21 seasons (longevity is important too!). Its also important to note the awards he won (19 time all-star, ROY, 2 MVP's, and 2 golden gloves.) On top of all this, Ripken is one of the most-liked players in baseball history, and continues to add to today's baseball culture. Gwynn, like Ripken, has his fair share of impressive stats: .338 lifetime average (good for 20th all-time), a record 8 batting titles, and amazing defense (.986 F%)(5 Gold Gloves). Gwynn was also one of the most well-liked players in the game; his son continues to carry on his legacy to this day (Tony Gwynn Jr.) with the Milwaukee Brewer's. All in all, id say this is one of the greatest HOF classes ever!

The 1999 class was full of legends.

The 2006 class was also impressive -- Sutter and a boatload of olde-tyme ***** Leagues players and personnel.

2010 could be the next great ballot -- Alomar, McGriff, Edgar Martinez, among others.

How about 2005? Ryne Sandberg and Wade Boggs.

I suggest everyone read Ryno's induction speech.
