This can be so tough! I am the same way. One thing I read that stuck in my head for some reason and always seems to help me is this: ALWAYS leave a room better off than it was when you entered it. It sounds silly, but once you start thinking this way, you will start a habit of checking behind yourself before you leave a room and picking something up, EVERY time you exit a room. I don't know why, but I promise this works! Good luck to you and remember, your family won't look back and remember messes, they'll remember the memories you made!

I have found that it is little things that make a difference. Set a time everyday to do a few chores so they don't all build up and become a major hassle. For example, if you fold laundry, put them away, right away. Take a few minutes now, so you don't have big piles of clothes around. When you get out of bed in the morning, take a few minutes to make the bed. It only takes a few minutes and it makes the room look less messy. Instead of cleaning a whole bathroom at one time, do a little bit at a time. One morning clean the sink or the mirrors, the next day you could clean the toilet, etc. You mentioned that you are a housewife, but do you have kids? If you do, I suggest getting them involved. You could use the help and they need to learn how to take care of a house for when they leave home.

A friend of mine gave me this pointer years ago........

Every night before you wander off to bed, make a quick trip through the house, removing whatever you find that is out of place. Stash it to where it goes (if it's yours) or to a designated spot/basket (if it's someone else's to put away). That way, in the morning you'll get up to a tidy house!

oh man, i am so not the right person to answer this one. we have 4 kids, i gave up on a clean house along time ago. why spend all ur time cleaning, when you can spend w/ ur family. i figure i'll have a clean hose when they all move out and i'm ok w/ that.
