Please, only pick either Lackey or Beckett. You won't get the points if you pick another player. Either Lackey or Beckett... that's all.

The question is: Who has a better chance, not who will win it. Therefore, Haren might win it but the question was "does Lackey or Beckett have the better chance?"
And for the person who said that they aren't even the best pitchers on their teams, then who is? I certainly think that Lackey is at least the best pitcher for LAA.

Also mind that the voters must remain impartial when choosing their pick. That means that media coverage, Los Angeles v. Boston, Angels v. Red Sox, etc. aren't factors.
In other words, in your explanation please don't say Beckett just because of media attention as the voters must exclude this "factor" from selecting a winner.
Also don't forget that the Cy Young is the best pitcher award. It isn't determined at all by team's success (although the Angels and Red Sox are really close anyway).

If I had to choose one I would say Lackey. Beckett will be on the DL atleast 1 more time for blisters by the end of the season.

Neither, Dan Haren owner of the best ERA in the AL he would have more wins if the bullpen of Oakland hadn't blown the leads he had. I don't care about the stupid points, but if I had to choose Beckett because I hate John Lackey overrated. So is Beckett won really good first half doesn't mean he's going to win the Cy Young.

Josh Beckett has way better odds, even if their stats were completely even which I'm guessing will be around 20 wins apiece, upper 2-low 3 era's, and strikeout totals around 190-200, Beckett plays for big market Boston which means he'll get more attention, more media coverage, and more votes when it comes to getting the Cy Young, plus his team will most likely do better than Lackey's, which has decided the Cy Young numerous times.

First, I'll tell you what you want to hear, then I'll tell you the truth.
Beckett has a better chance of winning, since he already has a reputation and plays on a higher-profile team.
The real answer is neither one will win the Cy Young any time soon. Neither is even the best pitcher on his team!

Out of those two i would say becket cause he gets more publicity and he's more electric has more strikeouts and will have more wins because of his teams overall talent.
But everybody knows that the AL cy young goes through none other than Johan Santana and if i had to put my money somewhere thats where i would put it, he'll prob turn it around and lead the league in strikeouts, have 18 - 22 wins and lower his e.r.a. to 2.7
wildcard for the award would be oaklands dan haren cause everyone knows, as much as it pains me to say being a giants fan, that oakland will catch hot fire in the second half and his wins will start to mount to go with that allready amazing ERA

Beckett came off the disabled list and threw a gem last night. It's as though he never missed a turn. He would be my choice. An 8-0 start is fantastic.

So far, I will go with Beckett. Even if he hits the DL again (it wasn't blisters) he still hasn't lost this season.
He plays in a tougher division (well its not but should be) far more pressure, and he was under a lot of pressure to perform as the fans and team expected him to do.
He has been brilliant, all his stats prove that.

Beckett. He has the better start to the year and the better offense to support him.
