What would this mean?
If you tell a friend that you are trying to get to know more to call you on the phone instead of emailing all the time because it would be faster and easier.. and you give them your number.... and they tell you that email would be better now because they lost thier voice and it is very scratchy and squeaky... what would you think?
This is a former college teacher that i have became friends and we are making plans to go out in a couple of days but she dont want to talk over the phone for some reason.. just email
this is just for friends! just hanging out.. i just dont understand why she dont want to talk over the phone... i dont know if shes not comfortable with it or shy??

I would think they were trying to avoid me.
I mean, I could understand if they were actually sick but you don't just develop laryngitis that quickly.
But, I am kind of the same way. I just don't like to talk on the phone just because I am afraid I will have nothing to talk about. Unless they call me, I try to seclude myself away from the phone.

She may be like me in the sense that she is afraid that she won't know what to talk about. =)

In some cases it could be safer for a person to interact through e-mail than by other means.
This person my be hiding in an e-mail shell.
As long as you require her to communicate in a more socially acceptable manner she will continue to be challenged by you.
She will either step up to the challenge, or will withdraw.
It's her choice!

Do I think it's weird? Well if it's a 6th grader who hasn't had a lot of social experience NO! But if it's a former college teacher, then I would give a definate YES! It's weird.
Perhaps even an agoraphobic.
Good Luck with her!

If she is your former college professor and you like her, go along with her requests. She has credibility, and deserves a bit of deference.
She probably has voice problems or something. If you already know her and have spoken with her in the past, I'd say follow her lead and don't press an issue. She has her reasons for wanting to communicate by email.

She could be shy or.. Matbe SHE is really a HE and does not want you to know about it. many people pretend to be someone they are not just to get close to another person. YOU BE CAREFUL! Especially about meeting someone. The would have you meet them in a spot then its scarry what they could do. You be really careful . I wouldnt advise meeting this person since they seem leary about calling you.

She maybe shy. Or maybe she is into you and doesn't have the confidence to tell you.

The only person who can tell you what is really up is her. I suggest just flat out asking her.

mmm...this does seem a little bit strange. How long has it been since you have seen each other? It might just be a case of nerves. Sometimes its hard to talk to people if you have seen them for a while.

Um, yeah, I think that's really weird. I'm not sure what's going on with her but I'm not sure it's worth your time to get to know her anymore. She sounds like she's hiding something.
