The sooner the better, but it has been shown to be effective up to 120 hours.

As seen on the Planned Parenthood EC information page, the pill has proven to be effective when "started within 120 hours of unprotected intercourse." [That's five days.] Of course, the earlier the better, no matter what the guidlines say (they have been changed a few times).

Talk to a pharmacist.

Hope you are talking about unprotected sex with your husband. Can't imagine why anyone with a brain in their head would have unprotected sex outside of marriage these days. If you haven't heard AIDS kills, Herpes is forever, HPV causes cancer, Hepatitis destroys your liver, PIDS/Chlymadia...and so on can make you infertile.

Not a smart choice. No sex is that good.

72 hours, it will not help though if the egg has already implanted, or fertilized. It will only prevent fertilization, so if your already pregnant it does not abort the fertilized egg.
