State statutes differ, but I am fairly sure that you can get a motorcycle licence if your father approves. And of course you can get one in any state when you are 18 years old.

This is somewhat off the subject of your question, but as a father with sons who ride, I would like to emphasise the importance of taking an MSF class prior to riding. This class is only 2 or 3 days and is probably the best 2 or 3 days you will spend regarding your riding career. You will learn enough in that class to make you a better rider than half of the motorcycle riders on the roads today.

My suggestion is to go to your California DMV with your dad and simply apply for your motorcycle licence. Don't even bother to inform your mum until after the deed is done.

And welcome to the great world of bikers. Good luck.

I think you might talk to a few emergency medics and fire department personnel as to how many teenagers (and adults) they have to scrape off the pavement.. . No matter how much of an expert rider you are..the horror of the aftermath is unavoidable ..I recently witnessed one that happened 2 cars in front of me . He was wearing a helmet ..laying crumpled , unmoving ..1/2 block from his bike (motorcycle) - which was now the size of road-kill ..Helmet , or not ..a bike is no match against tons of metal ; nor are bikes visable to other drivers . You are a sitting duck .. You are a minor ..your mom is doing the right thing to protect you .

No as long as ur father signs for ur liability and u meet all the other bmv requirements u should be fine. The state only want to know if u hurt somebody on this bike and u are a minor, whose gonna pay the bill.

Get a helmet and ride safe. If u fall off, it gonna leave a terrible scar. Just be careful.

Hope i could help

You should have you dad's attorney give him an opinion on the divorce decree. As I said in my answer to your other question, California requires both custodial parents must sign the consent form only one parent has custody, or all legal guardians unless only one legal guardian has custody. Therefore, the terms of the divorce decree are very relevant to your situation and who needs to give consent.

what a foolish idea to go on thinking in legal terms about your mother! Your relationship with mother is in much deeper levels. So, try to think about her with more love and thankfulness. She bore you for nine months. If she wants to prevent you from getting driving license now, it is surely for your good. accept her advice. it will do you good.
