what size is the tank? are there fish in it already, if so how many and what kind? is there a heater? is there a filter?

I'm not sure what you mean by maintaining the tank, with a filter there sin't that much else to do. also, another betta? bettas shouldn't be together unless they're female and are in groups of 3 or more.

well the size of the tank would still be helpful, but honestly the tetra wouldn't be harder than a betta if there's a filter. 5 neon tetras should have a least a 5 gallon though so they have swimming room. just do 20% water changes once a week with a turkey baster or gravel vacuum.

*edit2*
I read in your other question it's hard to do weekly water changes. does this include partial water changes? if so, even every other week would be fine. just make sure you have a good filter. also, cycle the tank before you add the fish and add them one fish every 3 days if it's under 10gallons.

Tetra fish are fussy fish to keep. They come from South America and do best in peaty kind of water. You really should go to a fish aquarium store and get some good advice from professionals. Bettas (Siamese Fish) are definitely easier to look after. How about considering females this time instead of a male. Females are now bred with interesting colour patterns.

By the way, cichlids are tough fish.

What do you mean by that often maintence takes like 1hr every 2 weeks? if you cant manage that then i would suggest you don't keep fish.

if you can't maintain a fish tank...why have one. Just don't own animals, or fish if you don't feel like maintaining them.
