I'm finishing up pre-reqs for pharmacy school. 7 years ago (right after my 18th birthday) I was arrested for being with my girlfriend, who was only 2 years and 2 months younger. *Technically* I had to be charged, but even the judge didn't think I should be - I only got probation. But I did manage to land a nice 'child abuse' on my record along with lacivious battery.
I'm really worried I'll get through 4 years of school only to find out I won't be hired.
PS: I did contact CVS headquarters and got the response that they review backgrounds on a case to case basis. If anyone can shed some insight please do!

*********Sorry for the double post!*************
I am located in Florida. Unfort., those 2 particular charges canNOT be sealed/expunged. I've already talked to numerous lawyers and been referred to a particular statue.
I almost wish I could just get a new SSN and start over. It's completely unfair, especially considering my g/f told the judge at my hearing that i did nothing wrong. : /

You should look into the possibility of having your record expunged. If I knew which State you were in, I'd guide you to the right place but you didn't say.
However, you can contact the clerk of the court and get an idea of how to proceed.

To work as a pharmacist you need to be certified and to have pharmacy license. In some jurisdictions to have criminal record will be a reason to deny your request for the license but to have criminal recorsd id doesn necesarily mean that you are out of the game. You will be given a chance to explain the cisrcustances and certainly a misdemeneaor is better than a felony (well, the child abuse stuff doesn't sound good even for a misdemeanor).
Probably your school should have told you about that since the begining. If you are rejected you might need to get legal adivce.
Bellow his part of the FLORIDA PHARMACIST EXAMINATION APPLICATION AND INFORMATION.
"Have you ever been convicted of, or entered a plea of guilty, nolo contendere, or no contest to, a crime in any jurisdiction other than a minor traffic offense? YES _____ NO _____ (You must include all misdemeanors and felonies, even if adjudication was withheld by the court, so that you would not have a record of conviction. Driving under the influence or driving while impaired is not a minor traffic offense for purposes of this question.) "

I have seen applications ask if you have been "convicted of a felony in the last 10 years", but some broaden that to a "charge", or include "misdeamors" as well as "felonies". What they are concerned about and what they look for will depend upon what type of job you are applying for. Some employers conduct a much more thorough background check that do others. If other things are discovered during a background investigation that might make one less than a desirable candidate for that job, then it is at their discretion. If you are not sure, see if your local PD will run a background check for you. Alot of places will just check your locality and/or the last place you lived for info. You might also do one of those online background checks to see what comes up. Sometimes this information is incorrect as well. If you lie and it is found out, then you are automatically disqualified from that position and possibly others within the company or its addiliates.

Yes! You you remember a resume, they ask if you have ever been convicted of a felony in the past 5 or 10 years. Since this was a misdemeanor, you would not have to disclose that information. If it ever did come up you did not lie because you were never convicted of a felony.

your getting way ahead of yourself. The question should be, "can I get into a college of Pharmacy".
Perhaps you can.....but I wouldn't bet on it. A clean record counts, especially when you are going to be working with controlled substances.
For what it's worth, I think you being labeled a sex offender is bogus. The same thing happened to a neighbor of mine.

I would think after 7 years that the statuate of limitations would be gone...guess it depends on your location though. Best ot contact the companies directly and explain your situation to them. You will at least know one way or another.

I wouldnt think so, but I cant be sure. Obviously a Drug-Charge would elimate you. But I doubt a simple charge like that if the company is aware of the cirumstances should effect you.
