She found a lizard outside and gave it to her son without knowing anything about it?? Not the smartest idea. Not only is this cruel to the scaled little guy, but he may be carrying one of many diseases associated with wild reptiles. Let the poor little guy go and if she wants to get her son a reptile (which I highly recommend) she needs to get one that has been captive bred and handled since hatching. A much better pet!

It's probably a Komodo dragon!

Seriously, if you need help in identifying a lizard (or any other wild caught animal), you need to say where you live and describe it as accurately as you can (including its length, weight and coloration).

If you don't live on the Komodo Islands, your lizard is not a dragon. But it's impossible to tell what species it might be without the above information.

I agree with Char, it could be harboring parasites or something. go get him some anoles or smaller lizards Or maybe a leopard gecko. they are cheap, I got mine for 25 dollars (but the cage was expensive! But then again, it came with sand, house, and other useful stuff lol.) and easy to take care of.
