Carpenter Ants have big jaws but I have tough skin. I used to pick them to pieces when I was about 7.
I love to collect insects, little did I know then that I would enjoy it so much but I have been stung and bitten several times. The Owlfly has see-thru wings with black dots and is a wonderful predator. Gives a bite I'll never forget.
Plant bugs have beaks and they sting with them. The wheel bug, aptly named because it's back is humped with spikes, gives a sting one doesn't want to receive again.
Ichnumeons can be found at night under any porch light, they sting real well too.
Once I thought I should knock a bald face hornet nest down with a water bottle. The nest was the size of a cantaloupe and when they came at me..........well, I got 7 stings out of that one. My kids thought it was hilarious.
I love insects though and I'm sure I'll be stung or bitten many more times, accidentally of course.
I like tarantulas and spiders too but am a little more respectful of them. I have a pet Mexican Red Knee.

Carpenter ants are among the largest ants in seattle washington. There are several species of carpenter ants that may be found infesting homes and other buildings. Normally workers are black, or red and black, in color; and range in size from 3/8 to ½ inch. Winged queen ants may be as large as one inch. However, size is not a reliable characteristic for identifying carpenter ants. Some ants, including carpenter ants, have different sized workers which help the nest with a range of jobs from food collecting to nest defense. The best method to distinguish carpenter ants from other ants is by the following characteristics: A waist with one node (petiole) and a thorax with an evenly rounded upper surface.

Spiders are my friends right now, too. I have carpenter ants and I'm hoping the spiders will help me out a bit. I'm putting down some chemicals soon so they'll all probably die. I'm itching all over just talking about this!

I dont like spiders. I'm petrified of them. And i dont know exactly why. But I've been bit by spiders (never a poisonous one though thank God), I've been stung by mosquitos and bees. Nothing else too serious. As for non-bugs Ive been bitten by my evil ferret, nipped by a dog, and bitten by a cat. Oh and pecked by a bird.

If they mistake u for a piece of wood...then u deserve to get bit. I'm not afraid of bugs. I once had an earwig get stuck on the electrical contact of the power control unit of a brand new central air conditioner....which cost me $90.00 So I don't have a problem with stomping on them. If u need a stomper, I'm for hire.
God Bless u,
Daniel
