Why can't we have even one candidate, for president or local or state government who will speak to real issues, and take an unpopular stand on current society? Why doesn't even one candidate take a stand and say "This corruption is wrong, and it will not continue. The military-industrial complex is wrong and I will end it. Whatever happened to truth and honesty when dealing with the people of this republic?". These views are just examples and may not speak to the wrongs that we all see in society. But the sentiment is the same. What happened to straight shooting, strong worded candidates that produce change?
Do candidates who speak to the masses, and speak of peace and truth, and honesty get sidelined or railroaded out of the mainstream by the coporations and people afraid to lose there grip on what they have? Or is America no longer capable of producing people who are uncorruptable?

There are a couple. And the media is trying to crush them.

Ron Paul made his stand on the debates and after an initial spin job was done to try and get him totally removed from the field, he came out even stronger. (Truth does give you power)

Gavel has also tried to make the same inroads on the Democrat side.

Hopefully, Ron Paul continues to make strides. The more people deride him and accuse him of being un American, the stronger he gets.

Maybe they don't know what its like to really be an American because they forgot so long ago.

I totally agree with you. My answer is that the candidates want not only the $ (actually I shouldn't really say that. The president or elected officials aren't paid that much... It's really for the media aspect, I think) but the attention-everyone wants to be loved if you know what I mean. Sometimes you must go against something right to get something good. Example: the passing of the Constitution of our nation. The abolition of slavery had not yet occured, and in addition, many of the founding fathers (even Jefferson...slightly contradicts his Declaration, but that's another topic) had slaves themselves. Many members of the "writing staff" ,if you will, wanted to abolish slavery then and there so that the nation would not have to deal with it at a later time. But if the abolition was written into the Constitution, it would have never been ratified, and the nation would have had to survive on things like the Federalist Papers, which would have weakened the nation tremendously. As Thomas Jefferson put it, holding onto slavery was like holding onto the ears of a wolf; if you kept holding on, then the wolf would get angrier and angrier, but if you let it go, the wolf would for sure turn around and try to bite your head off. anyway, I would be glad to discuss this with you even more...my email is lucyjunker@yahoo.com

Americans live in the fantasy of a false democracy. They would not vote for a politician who told the truth about issues. I believe your country is capable of continuing to produce great leaders but thesedays they are getting snuffed out quick smart.

Well, usually, that's my complaint as well. However, at least right now there is actually one who is still in the race. That is Ron Paul. First of all lets look at his record:

He has never voted to raise taxes.
He has never voted for an unbalanced budget.
He has never voted for a federal restriction on gun ownership.
He has never voted to raise congressional pay.
He has never taken a government-paid junket.
He has never voted to increase the power of the executive branch.

He voted against the Patriot Act.
He voted against regulating the Internet.
He voted against the Iraq war.
He does not participate in the lucrative congressional pension program.
He returns a portion of his annual congressional office budget to the U.S. treasury every year.

OK, now go to YouTube type in "Ron Paul" and watch some videos. In particular find the 11 part speech titled "Neoconned". It is brilliant!

as much as i could love that to take place, it won't by using fact speaking what you think or telling human beings what's incorrect is a very risky situation to do at latest. to assert what you think is like digging your own grave. that's why we want a brave political candidate this is supported via people who comprehend what's incorrect and what desires to be fixed. in step with probability the international could substitute for the extra effectual....

We have totally lost control of our government. Politicians do not serve the people, they serve their own self interest. The Democrats call the Republicans liars and the Republicans call the Democrats liars. The fact of the matter is that the whole bunch of them are liars, crooks and cheats, regardless of party affiliation. Remember the age old question "How do you know if a politician is lying?" Their lips are moving!!!

Well if they take a stand on an unpopular issue ( like staying in Iraq) people like you want to impeach them and an so forth so they wouldn't get your vote would they?
And what is wrong to some may not be wrong to others. Is your views on issues the only right ones?

Unbelievably enough, there is currently a man running for President who matches word for word what you just described. Here are some quotes of his;

"Its unbelievable, the military-industrial complex not only controls our government lock stock and barrel, but they control our culture!"

and

"Its probably the most corrupt tax system we could devise!" (referring to our current tax code, the income tax, the IRS, etc)

The man is former Senator Mike Gravel (D-Alaska). If youre older enough you may remember him as the man who in 1971 did a one-man filibuster in the Senate for 5 months and forced the end of the draft.

Hes running for President right now with the Democratic Party. If you watched the first Democratic Debate on MSNBC you couldntve missed him. He was the only one there who didnt seem dead or seriously sedated. Matter of fact he was kinda pissed off...I'll give you the link to some of Gravel's video clips on youtube and his campaign website, in case youre interested in seeing the candidate you seem to be looking for.

And if you like what you see there, I suggest you watch the three-part-video of his speech at the DNC winter meeting. Just search for it on youtube.
