(I'm a NY Mets fan & whoa, what a game tonight it was against the SF Giants! I couldn't watch it on tv, so I had to use the internet.) anyway, I liked Johnny Damon since he was w. the Red Sox, but do you think he might want to go back since the NY Yankees are currently 14 1/2 games away from the Red Sox? I personally don't want him to go back..! (I'm not really a baseball expert, but I still love to watch the games!)

Oh, i'm sure he would want to go back. Unfortunatly, he is not the only one involved in a transaction like that.

Johnny's very weird. Some of the things he's been saying has made it seem like he wants to go back, and some of them make it seem like he doesn't want to go. That's just the way it is. I don't really see this helping out the Red Sox though. I mean, they're in a tough division, and Johnny isn't going to solve their problems. He's a decent DH, and I understand that their outfield is thin, but Johnny's not a great outfielder. I think it would be weird though, because so many Red Sox fans think of him as a traitor. If he went back though, I'm sure they'd love him again. Johnny's a like-able guy, and I think that if he was on their side the Red Sox fans would take him back.

No looking back now. Coco Crisp is fine in center for the time being. In addition, the Red Sox' best positional prospect is Jacoby Ellsworth (spelling?), a former number one draft choice and center fielder. At some point it looks like they will have to make room for him.
The Red Sox had some doubts about Damon's durability at the time he became a free agent, which is why they didn't go wild about trying to re-sign him -- especially to a four-year deal. It was a similar story with Pedro Martinez. Both are fine players, but it's starting to look like the Red Sox made rational decisions with them.

While I agree with the first answer and that the Red Sox would be fine without him, we have to remember one thing.
The Yankees are not going to swing a deal to send Damon back to Boston, and just because they are slumping right now does not mean they need to abandon ship.
They wouldn't move any pieces from their team anyway, because they'll never get equal value in return. Just look at what happened with Gary Sheffield. They parted ways with him because they had no place for him. Damon is their CF.

No way this will ever happen. The Yankees won't trade with the Sox and he is still under contract with them for a few more years. Even if he was a free agent right now the Sox wouldn't bring him back because the fans would never accept him after leaving for the Yankees money.

Yankees wouldn't trade him, he has no trade protection, he is struggling, and gets paid a ton of money.
Red Sox wouldn't even want him back, Coco is fine in the outfield, and getting important hits this year
And the Red Sox have Jacoby Ellsbury in AAA, who compares to Damon, but of course younger, healthier and cheaper.

No. The Red Sox dont need him. Coco is playing unbelievable defense right now. And Damon is getting old. He sucks defensively and isnt doing much with the bat either.

He was my favorite player when he was still with the Red Sox... Especially when he had his Jesus look. I lost all my respect to him when he joined the Yankees. I wouldn't want him back. If he is a Yankee, enjoy losing more games then.

Nice rambling question full of non-essentials. NO!! He will never return to the Red Sox because the Red Sox don't need his weak arm, his slow pace on base, and his silent bat. The fact is, Damon made his choice for a few bucks and now needs to live with the result of his decision: last place!!
Chow!!
