Alright, so I'm just reading a bunch of Libra descriptions (yep, you guessed it. Boyfriend's an October-ite). While Gemini & Aquarius seem to fit the logical, aloof, detached bill, Libra seems to be all about "togetherness", "sensitivity"; not to mention the mention of their "people-pleasing" ways. Are Libra's a 'softer' version of an air sign? The way they're depicted, they should be grouped w/ the water signs, but I guess that would mathematically alter the Horoscope (must be equal amts of each element).
Do you think Libra should be a Steam sign (half air, half water)?

I see what you're saying but I don't agree. (Typical Libra, I see both sides lol!) But coming from a Libra you're not experiencing the sign for yourself. You're only seeing certain qualities in your bf.
I would NOT say Libra's are a softer version of the air signs. We have our moments! Although we don't like conflict we fail to admit we often are the reason for it. For example we say things we should keep to ourselves. We can cause a lot of conflict b/c of our indecisiveness.
Have you ever spent a good amount of time w/a water sign? Pisces for example is very needy. Do not confuse this with our wanting & needing a partner or our togetherness. Although this is what we want, we are very strong independent people and we don't need anyone. We just want it and often once we get it, we're bored and don't want it anymore. I'm not saying that's always the case in a relationship but it's usually the case in every other aspect of our lives.

Libra's are actually just what they need to be, Air signs. Here is the way an element works:
Fire is about your basic enthusiastic urge
Earth represents the practical, material world and concerns
Air is the element of abstract thought
Water represents feelings and the empathetic impulse.
Libras are supposed to be the what if factor. They are the only sign that is neither animal or human. Both Air and Water symbols are close to the same in that they are both derivative and focused on OTHERS. However where they differ is that AIR elements are extroverted, optimistic, active and freedom oriented. WATER elements are introverted, pessimistic, passive ( some of them at least) and security oriented.
Libras have a tendency to ride the fence because they are all about balance, hence the scales. They could be water but I think they are right where they need to be, bringing balance to the zodiac.

No, water signs are deeper. I liked darkkarn...'s answer. That was a very awesome explanation. I am a Scorpio. I have had lots of Libra friends, and my Dad is a Libra. Libras are all about balance, which I personally think, makes them so likeable.

Im a water sign and i dont get jealous either. And i have never "worshiped" a Libra celebrity or friend. I dont put anyone on a pedestal because they let it get to their heads almost all the time and if any Water signs are jealous....who cares? people are still gonna talk sh*t irregardless. Ignore it, get over it, move on. All the signs talk sh*t about one another at some point and its normally because of a bad experience. Just keep in mind not all water signs are like that. Theres always bad apples in the bunch! :}

I agree with Catwoman. Water signs are much deeper. Libra is where it should be as an air sign. What are you trying to say calling Libra a 'softer' sign? Are you trying to say all Water signs are soft? Plus you say your bf is born in October. How close in Oct. is he born to Scorpio?

I think that you may be close to right but i believe that air is a good sign for libras. Air is in the water earth and in fire. And most all air signs are melded well with the other element signs. I think its because the air signs pick up small details from all the other elements in their being along the way thru life.

Libras fit in perfectly with air signs. Each sign is different. Aquarians, Gemini's and Libra's are not all going to be the same just because they are all air signs.

That's cool, a Steam Sign! But seriously, all that "togetherness" is a form of communication, which puts Libra smack into Air, right? Libra is all about mediation, the putting together of diversities, and that requires communication.
I think that Libras are also people-pleasing in that they are notoriously unable to make decisions. Letting others do it for them is also people-pleasing (Honey, you decide).
But Libras are also intellingent, able to see all facets of a situation (supposedly!), and interested in romance from a theoretic viewpoint (Scorpio likes romance, too, as long as it leads to a horizontal conclusion).
