We have a courtyard at our house that is enclosed but is open to the sky. Every night a bird comes and rests on our rain gutter and in the morning CHIRPS soo loud, which echoes because of the enclosed space.
We dont want to swat the bird or anything but how can we get rid of it!????????
we try shoing it and it doesnt budge. its a weird looking bird too...has fluffy feathers like its a baby bird? but it obviously leaves and comes back to this location almost every night!! There is no nest...so at least thats not an issue now.

Seriously, are you people dumb? Lucky to have a bird singing...first off this is not singing! These are loud annoying drawn out chirps. Second...the courtyard is right next to my room and it echoes loud. Third, this is at like 5:30 in the morning.
This is not nice to have around. Maybe some of you dont work....geez, im really disappointed. I thought there would be real "scientific" people here that new about zoology, not just some people bored on a tuesday night.

2 nights ago around midnight we had a noisy bird in the backyard for a half hour or so. It was definitely a Mockingbird. They rapidly change from one type of bird call to another. Don't know why he was so noisy that night, maybe the moon was bright enough. Maybe it was trying to attract a mate, after all it is Spring.
A bird with down coming off of it is probably a juenile losing his juevy plumage for an adults.
In response to your "dumb" comment, you got some good suggestions,,,, and I DO sympathise, but the earplugs are probably the best answer.

the birds in my neighborhood start singing at 530 in the morning--NO FAIL. i can't do anything about them though because they live in the trees.
however...my friend had a problem pigeon that had a nest on the roof of his house (where the roof corners meet). he just put up a whole bunch of wire mesh to keep them from nesting on the roof.
(oh yeah, it helps if there's a cat in the neighborhood--my friend said he found a wing in his backyard...not feathers, a wing)

Nothing you can do except invest in some ear plugs.. I cant understand why people let things like that bother them anyway.. just ignore it and sleep through it. I have Robins singing here at 4 AM but I dont hear them unless I am already awake, thats because I dont let it bother me... maybe you should do the same, its just a bird and birds sing, this earth belongs to them too and it is not up to you to say where and when they can and cannot sing. I hear so many people on here complaining about birds singing and chirping that it makes me sick.. get over it.

Does any of the neighbor kids have a bb gun?
Birds singing huh? My neighbor's rose bush is making my fence lean, but what can I do. His flowers are an improvement. I would say that a birds singing is an improvement too..but then again, I don't have your schedule and I can't tell if he sings good or not.
I love animals, but I would be very tempted to go to walmart for a good BB gun.

I don't understand why this is a problem. Most people would love to have a bird chirping at their house. Consider yourself fortunate. Think of it as being part of nature. You are lucky, this bird has chosen your house as part of its mating territory.
It'll be gone soon enough. Mating does not last forever.
Remember, birds are proteced by state and federal laws.
