I own a 2007 Ford Fusion with about 1,500 miles on it. So far I am very impressed with the quality of this car. I have found zero defects of any kind, even the tiniest. The fit and finish is excellent!.
It's a very fun car to drive, and quite stylish. My Merlot Red Fusion has drawn several admiring looks from people. So far, I'm very pleased with it.
The Chevy Cobalt really is a different class of car. It's a compact economy car. The Fusion is classified as a mid-size. Chevy's direct competitor would be the Malibu or perhaps the Impala. When I started my search for my recent car, I was looking at Impalas, and was very impressed with what I saw. I would have bought one, but the dealers here in California had only 4 or 5 on each lot, and none had the color / configurations I was looking for.
I didn't like the styling of the Malibu, so did not even look at it in any detail. Nor was I looking for a compact car, so I did not look at the Cobalt either.

The Fusion - but these cars or not direct competitors, the Fusion is comparable to the Malibu, the Cobalt competes more with the Focus (smaller). The Cobalt would probably compare more favorably to the Focus, which is getting old.
