I switched the food for my fish about a week ago. They eat about 3 times a day and I have 1 very large fancy goldfish with red crown, 2 white ryukins, 2 black moors, 2 plats and 1 regular goldfish. We have had them for about 4 months. We were going thru a lot of food because the females ( 1 fancy, 1 black moor, and 1 white ryukin) were eatting so much food. I bought Laguna Medium size Goldfish and Koi food. I think maybe our White Ryukin has gotten swim bladder from the new food. We are quarantening her to a bowl with an air hose for little while. I am going to not feed her at all for a day or two and see if she starts to do better, then ill feed her peas till she is better for atleast a week. We still have some of the smaller blood worms and the fish shaped tetra goldfish food that we can feed her when she starts getting better till she is completely better for at least a week. I need to know how long to give her. Should we just wait till she either gets better or stops breathing?

sheesh, how big is your tank?!

anyway, a bowl isn't the best palce and may worsen her condition. a clean filtered tank is best. it's most likely constipation or the food expanding after fish has eaten it. have you been soaking the food for a few minutes before feeding them? if not I suggest you start doing that.

I'd suggest fasting the fish for a day, then feeding a pea then fasting for one more day.

as for how long to give her, what do you mean? how long until what?

Unfortunately fasting a goldfish does not work for constapation due to new food which is what your fish is suffering from. Goldfish donot have stomachs like most fish which means they always seem hungry. When they eat they poo. When they eat and don't poo not feeding them isn't always the best reasoning. Since you have so many gold fish in your tank, you need to rethink the entire food available to them. Constapation is not contagious so I would suggest returning your fish to the main tank.

First be sure there is no salt in your goldfish tank. Salt causes bloat as well as other related problems with goldies.

Goldfish need a balanced diet. When choosing a fish food choose one with high protein (48% or better) and low fat (5% or less)

You can supplement their diet with things like Lettuce, mustard greens, turnip greens, collard greens, spinach, peas, endive, seaweed, cukes, kale, chard, broccoli, lima beans, green beans, etc. and feed aquatic plants (e.g. duckweed, azolla, salvenia, etc) or hair algae daily.

For their Carotenoids which are a family of pigments the fish can't make themselves and are obtained as part of the diet. These pigments result in red, yellow and orange colors. Fish have cells called chromataphores. Those cells convert lutein and carotenes into astaxanthin which is the red pigment.
sources include, brine shrimp, krill, spirulina, marigold flowers, paprika, sweet red peppers, yams, carrots, pumpkin

Watermellons and oranges are also good as well as proteins like chicken (chicken livers) beef (livers and parts) and pork as well as worms and bugs.

Feeding your goldies a varied diet will keep them healthy and happy for a long time.

Try feeding your constapated goldie from the list above. Keeping a veggie clip in the main tank with lettuce or greens cliped to it will also keep their innerds clean and clear.

Good luck with your fish.

He seems high-quality, yet you will possibly desire to save an eye fixed on him. Swim bladder is ordinarily got here across once you spot the fish swimming the different way up. an person-friendly therapy may be to feed your fish sparkling greens and sparkling the tank.

Ditto to Kylie Anne... keep her in treatment until she is better. If you mean how long do you give the constipation treatment before switching to a swim bladder infection treatment I would say 3-4 days.
