This sounds like sciatica. I've had it with all three of my pregnancies. A chiropractor can help with pain relief. My midwife also gave me a stretch exercise to do at home. You sit on a chair with your back straight and cross the right leg over the left, man style. Then push hard down on the right knee, while keeping your back straight. This takes pressure off the nerve.

Pain in your vaginal area could be something different - probably the baby's head pushing against your pelvic floor. That can cause sharp, shooting pains "down there."

I had that too! I thought I was going to go crazy and my doctor wasn't very specific on ways to help. In the middle of the night I would have this shooting pain on the right side of my vaginal/groin area...but it was sporadic; it never was predictable but when I could feel it coming on there was no turning back. It usually happened when I was sitting or sleeping a certain way. To answer you, yes it is some sort of nerve irritation. The baby is sitting in that particular spot and putting your 'leg' to sleep, if you know what I am saying. I got to the point one time that the only way to relieve the pressure was to sit on the toilet...I know that sounds weird, but it made the baby move and it felt the most comfortable way to be until the pain past. I feel your pain doll...it will all be over in a few weeks;) Good Luck to you! Oh, and it was worse than my labor pains if that makes you feel better about what is to come;)

Your Dr. is right....toward the end of my pregnancy I couldn't even turn over in bed without help it hurt so bad...sleeping with a pillow between your legs might help..I can only tell you that it will be better after the baby comes. I wish I could help you more because I know the pain!

The baby is probably sitting on your sciatic nerve. yes, it hurts a LOT. Your sciatic is the biggest nerve in the body, running from the hip all the way to your toes. Yeah, getting it pinched or under pressure is excruciating pain.

Sciatica is a very common late pregnancy complaint. I work for a Chiropractor and he treats this all the time. I would talk to your OB about how to alleviate the pain.

I reply first, and if the answering makes me consider or makes my day, then I'll megastar. I realize...it is choosy of me, sorry. o.o But this manner I become pointing my enthusiasts and contacts to the *well stuff* you already know? ^__^ Or a minimum of I attempt to. But have a celeb besides only for being sufferer and expertise. ^_^
