Why is this in hockey? And why are you calling him Rick?

Richard "Rip" Hamilton fractured his nose three times during the 2003-2004 NBA season, and to remain eligible for the 2004 NBA Playoffs, he was required to wear the face mask for safety purposes. He has had three re-constructive surgeries, leaving him without nose cartilage, which makes him vulnerable to a career ending injury. That is the reason why he wears the mask every game. He also said he thinks its good luck, because when he started wearing it in the 2004 Playoffs, they went on to win the NBA Championship.

I hope this has helped best answer your question.

He continued to wear the face mask for protection. It was not something that he did to help him concentrate on the court at all. He continued to wear it because he felt comfortable and he didn't want to re-injure his nose. It was a decision he made to be safe while he's on the court playing.

yep broke his nose and had to wear the mask because it was still healing. Now we continues to wear it. If you broke it before, you might want protection so you don't have to go through it again.

first of all its "rip not rick" and its because he has broke his nose so many times that if he breaks it again the nose bone will push right up into his brane so he whears the mask .

"RIP" Hamilton fractured his nose 3 times and has had surgery on it 3 times. He has no nose cartilage so if his nose is fractured one more time he'll have to end his career.

-Also he has told reporters that it is a good luck charm.

ive heard its because he doesnt have enough cartilidge in his nose from breaking it so many times, so if he didnt wear the mask, his face would cave in.

ive also heard that he doesnt even have to wear it and hes just very superstitious and thinks it brings him good luck if he doesnt take it off.

so i really have no idea.

A few years ago, he broke a facial bone, and just got accustomed to wearing it. He plays more fearlessly with it.
