It is a term that was originally used in the 1700's by sailors who would cut the lines to the anchor and try and outrun the enemy. Why is it the biggest battle that the Republicans / Conservatives want to win now a days is the war on words. They spend more money paying people to come up with sound bites than they are willing to pay the troops whose very lives they risk in fraudulent wars.

Face it folks, it is a cute little bumper sticker, but when nearly 75% percent of the country is against the war, it is nothing more than preaching to the choir. Repeating someting over and over until it becomes part of people's brains is what most of us call brainwashing.

Here's a soundbite that reflects the Republicans/ Conservatives better: "lie and die"... It flows a little better than "stay the course".

sound bites, bumper sticker philosophy, bar stool patriotism, whatever you want to call it is like eye candy. it may satisfy but there is no substance.

unfortunately...it is also very effective for getting your message out in a way that appeals to the emotions rather than the intellect.

An "ace" is a team's "go to" guy when they have alosing streak...the one guy you need there to get a win and stop the streak. Back in the '70s every team had an ace. Today, I can think of only a few aces in the NL: Peavy Smoltz Pedro Martinez Webb Zambrano The pitching today really stinks, not like in 1973 when the Mets had Seaver, Koosman, Matlak and Stone as starters and Tug McGraw as a closer. Other than the Braves and Yankees during the last 15 years no one can come close to that. Thats how much expansion in the 90s hurt the game.

Perhaps, "Run Away! Run Away! The rabbit has fangs! Bring out the Holy Hand Grenade!" Would better suit you. I am not a Bush supporter by any means, but I think its funny how folks will bash Bush about being incoherent, but former President Clinton, in front of his impeachment hearing asked the panel to define what the word, 'is' meant. What?! You're the President and you dont know what 'is' means?

All joking aside, we've been at war for a while now. Before Sept 11th, 2001. These attacks have been happening since 1993 (yep, during the Clinton administration), since the first World Trade Center attack. The best way to tell your enemies they're winning is to give up and go crawl into a corner. You want to know why these slogans keep coming up? It's because people in political office care for one thing only, their tenure! Republican or Democrat. I for one am sick of this government crawling into a corner. Of giving in to political correctness. Of holding back our most highly trained military forces on the possibility that other wordly nations will think less of us. The fact of the matter is, the rest of the world does hate us. They just tolorate us enough to take advantage of our capitilistitc nature, sucking us dry. Yes, 75% of the country wants THE TROOPS HOME, but they also WANT THEM TO COME HOME VICTORIOUS. There is a reason we are a super nation. It's because people fought for it to be that way. And to watch people stand there and say that we need to Cut and Run, or to just get out without putting up a fight, or to even stay in the fight and just keep on getting hit pisses me off to no end.

If you want the American Military to fight, tell them to fight. But for God's sake, take the kid's gloves off of them and let them do their job like they've been trained to do so and to let them come home, victorious and alive.

God bless our fighting men and women.

80 to 85% of those residing in the American "Colonies" were against the Revolutionary War.
You would have had the freedom lovers of that day to turn-tail and run from the redcoats to make the "loyalists" feel safer.
With Gods help, the patriots stayed the course, ignoring the same kind of garbage that you're putting out and stayed in the fight. And I'm glad they did.
Americans have had to do the right thing, throughout our history, in spite of what you nittering Nabobs have said.
The Democrats want the freedom lovers of this day to turn tail and run too.
And with Gods help, we'll be able to finish this fight too.

The term used overextensively is "quagmire". It is a term coined by Edward Kennedy and has its origin when the good senator drove off that bridge into the pond at Chappaqquiddick.

Nope.

"9/11" is the most rediculously overused sound bite I have ever heard.

Whenever they say it, I think, "greatest intelligence failure in the history of our country, on their watch and not only are they proud of it, they promoted the head of the National Security Agency!"

OK, so you don't support the war and you hate Bush.

What do you support? Freedom? Liberty? Think they come with no responsibilities attached? Think they're supported and protected because it simply makes sense that surely no one would want to take them from you?

Utopia, my friend, does not exist. We must protect our way of life from those who would abolish it and replace it with their own demented ideology of hatred and domination.
That's the reality.
