Uh, yeah. I was really young, but I remember hearing all about Iraq and Saddam Hussein during the first Gulf War. My mother made a point of watching Good Morning America with me every day when I was in elementary school and making sure I knew and understood what was going on in the world.

Of course I did. Unlike most young people I have always paid close attention to the world and have good geographic awareness even before I joined the military. Perhaps it contributed to my decision.
