Computer will not start. Only option is to reformat. I need to access a few word documents. If i remove the hard drive how can I transfer the files over?

yes, you need to either set that drive up in an external hdd enclosure or make it a secondary hdd on another pc... aslong as the drive is good you can recover the data off it.

i would suggest downloading spinrite v6.0 and burning that to a cd then running the complete test on the hdd first, it will fix most errors on the drive, i have had good luck with this program (best find this using torrents to avoid paying)
