The tyre "bead", the inside tyre edge or rim is sealed to the steel wheel's rim by the air pressure in the tyre. A hard side impact to the tyres' walls can move the tyre bead inward on the wheel and allow the air to escape, flattening the tyres. This is most likely the case if you were able to have the tyres re inflated with no holes or damage to the tread or walls.

Low tire pressure makes the tires heat up. Make sure you check your tire pressures regularly. But hitting the curb is a special case and could have damaged your wheel rims also. Actually, your car's frame could have been damaged too. Make sure to file an insurance claim with your own car insurance which will cover everything but your collision deductible. The insurance agent will tell you what's the recommended body shop to take your car to. They will put the car on a frame machine to make sure the frame hasn't been bent or the unibody distorted etc.

I would say hitting the kurb blew the tyre's.
I would be more worried as to what caused the steering to lock, Take the car in ASAP and get the steering checked out.

You either ran over something which punctured the tires then caused the accident or hitting the curb blew out the tires. Based on the available information it is impossible to say which.

The tire pressure could have been low, damage tire wall, old tires or many other reasons.

tires being too old, over inflation, under inflation, running over sharp objects, or abusing the tires by turning too hard, braking too hard, and doing burnouts
