Overall not really, however there is a growing problem with them being killed for bushmeat.

Lions are really the only animal that will try and hunt them and most humans tend to stay as far away as possible due to how dangerous they are. But like I said, poachers are killing them for bushmeat as well as for tusks and bones. Mostly bushmeat though.

Unless there is a problem with rent controls, hippos have not complained much about where they live.

yes they are loosing habitat all over Africa ,because of expanding Humanity and chiefly because of river basins drying up

That is why they are very agressive
Hippos kill more people than any other animal in Africa.
