It was a bit overacted in places, the scenery was great adn the music excellent.

It also depicted the destruction the two main characters wrought on the lives of everybody around them - especially their wives and children. They were not victims - they were incredibly selfish in acting out their affection and infatuation.

hmm, it depends i guess, but i would generally say no...

dont forget jake is an actor, whether or not he's gay, straight, bi, whatever...he was paid to do what was on the script.
