From a purely athletic standpoint, it's going to be difficult to top Armstrong's record in France.
In a championship sense, Bill Russell's 11 rings in 13 years in quite an accomplishment.
And just to stir something up -- one athletic feat may have been the most dominating performance ever. The catch -- it was by a horse. Secretariat's 31-length win in the Belmont to finish the Triple Crown, winning all three races in what is now considered record times (there was a mixup on the Preakness at that time), was mindblowing. I prefer my athletic accomplishment to be by humans, but that was amazing.
