No, it is not. Your friend for most part is right on this. There are many reasons why also, but basically on Wikipedia you can get anyway with ANYTHING as long as there a so called "source" backing it up. However, most of the time these sources are usally not very athuorative, outdated, wrong, or plain stupid. So many times you will have Wikipedia Articles contridict them selves on certain parts of the article. You will also feel that they are repeative or that they are all over the place. Why? because on todays internet i can find a source backing up just about anything these days, like saying the color blue is actually the color purple (LOL) and thats why Wikipedia is inaccurate. On top of that most of the people who are on it are mostly people who are addicted and can not stop using/contributing, so they become "Wiki Nazis" if you will and dont let other smaller users add to the article. So in the end basically take Wikipedia for what it is and if you are especially doing research or looking something up on a place make sure to go to another source because it will most likely be different. There are exceptions to what I am saying but generally this is true for many many wikipedia articles.

Wikipedia is the result of a collaborative environment, where users post or publish data about a topic. Everybody love wikipedia because provide a lot of information in many languages, but...someone can edit the content. Try it, for example if you search for the meaning of PI (3.14) notice that edit word appear in the bottom right edge, if you click you go to the text editor, where you can add or delete data, save it, and see in the definition of PI.

Not very reliable because the content is contributed and can be edited by just anybody, not necessarily experts in the field. Their are wiki variants but none can be considered a rival as such.

Wikipedia is pretty reliable because people go through and delete all the incorrect information posted there, but you have to be careful because not always do the people catch everything!

Wikipedia is like a teacher's nightmare! But, without anyone knowing I still use wikipedia cause it gives more information. And to cite it, well it is a different story... may have to lie..

It is not very reliable. If you can use a library's database to do your research - that is your best bet. Anyone who wants to can go change information on wikipedia.

Don't trust it as the only source - a lot of times people will edit a listing if they don't like the topic, or the person that posted it, or have political opinions against the topic or person in the listing.
But if you check other sources, and they substantially agree, you can trust it more.

Some articles and information are correct but some other users have made and sometimes are unreliable. I wouldnt go there as ur number one choice though. Visit other sights to see which ones are better.
