As of tonight, they are 14.5 games behind the Red Sox. What is as interesting is the fact that EVERY team except the Red Sox are below 500 to this point in the season in the AL East. Pride will prevent the Yankees from waking up. They actually think Clemens will make such a big difference and are paying him a ton of money. Instead, they should be rebuilding for next year and years to come rather than spending money on a has been like Roger Clemens. BUT, can the Yankees EVER admit they are rebuilding?? No, so they won't and will be the dregs of the AL East for the next few years.

Last night was a major embarrassment. The Yankees should fine Petite for falling asleep at the wheel. One thing we've all learned about sports in general and that is losing is just as contagious as winning. Right now the they are not playing as a team but as 25 individuals. That has to stop before there is any talk of climbing back in it. I'm guessing that considering the mental makeup of this team, if they cannot bring themselves back within 7 or 8 games by the all star break it will take a major miracle for them to make the playoffs. Forget the division title. That is all but out of reach at this point.

If they wake up. Pettitte was asleep on the mound this evening, allowing a straight steal of home with Posada trying to get his attention.
