If you have speakers: double check all your speaker connections, are they plugged in, and the cord plugged into the little green input hole? Make sure volume isn't muted. Look at the little volume icon in the lower right (of the taskbar). There shouldn't be any red x's or anything on it. If so, right click it and clear the "mute" checkbox. If all that is good, then you probably need the sound drivers loaded. For that, go to the manufacturer's website, downloads, find your model, and browse for motherboard or audio drivers. If you can't get it fixed, consider calling in a local computer tech to help you out. Look in the paper. You can probably find someone a heck of a lot cheaper than a big computer store.

You can modify the sounds your PC makes when performing different activities such as opening/ closing windows ect. Go to control panel and click on Sounds and Audio Devices, On the SOUNDS tab you can select/deselect the sounds you PC will make for different events. These may have been set as part of a theme which you installed on your PC.
