Because you're attracted to both women and men. It doesn't have to be and 50/50 attraction either; some bisexuals have a preference for one or the other gender. There's a wide range on the Kinsey scale.

Bisexuality is a tough area. Many bisexuals feel shunned by hetersexuals and homosexuals alike, rather than just heterosexuals (which is enough, trust me).
But the only way you can know if you're bisexual is if you are emotionally, physically, and sexually attracted to both genders, male and female.
Being attracted to your girlfriends is not uncommon: many straight girls have demons thinking they are bisexual or lesbians just because they feel attracted to their girlfriends. This is not the case. You are bisexual when, and only when, you are sexually, physically, and emotionally attracted to both genders.

if you can honestly see yourself getting into relatively serious relationships with either genders.
if its just about sex, you're probably just curious or pretty sexual.
dont forget that you can also like one gender more out of preference and it can shift back and forth.
being bisexual myself, i know it because i'm both interested in getting into relationships with females and males.
