I'm trying to cope with the fact that no matter how good I am at my job I will always be belittled not because of any personality flaw but because of the nature of the people I work with. A culture of backstabbing and condescending attitudes reigns supreme and what makes it even worse is the fact that my job is located in the middle of nowhere and I do not have the option of quitting.

What are some ways to cope?

You ALWAYS have the option of quitting. You are miserable, selling out, tolerating the abuse of lower lifeforms for pay. You just walk. Don't stay there. Leave it behind you, pat yourself on the back for having the character to shape your own destiny, and then figure it out from there about a new job.

The best advise I can offer is recognizing while you don't enjoy the company of your co-workers you must still find a way to fit in. If you just come to work and focus solely on your work you will continue to be unhappy. Don't participate in the gossip but learn a little about your co-workers and be cordial. Asking someone how their child or spouse is. Making a comment how someones outfit looks nice. Stick to the short and sweet comments. Focus on being the best at what you do and learn more than just your job so when there is an opportunity to work in another dept or other part of the company you can jump on the chance to do that.

Rise above.

There is no revenge so complete as forgiveness. The moment you start to look bad is when you sink to your miserable coworkers' level. If you can set yourself apart from them and meet their every condescending remark with polite calmness, they will look petty and foolish. You will also have the satisfaction of knowing that you have done absolutely nothing wrong.

In all the jobs I have ever held, there have been some people who were just jerks. Reminding myself constantly that they were the ones with the problem helped me to get through it.

I had that problem awhile ago when my office went through a reorganization and new people much like you describe were in power. It was like they set my team up to fail.

I won't say it was easy, but I am a Christian and that is what got me through. Just reading the word and trying to apply it and prayer got me through my situation.

I am here to tell you that those same people disappeared one-by-one and things did get better. It is rough when you have to go through it but you will not change them so you will have to change yourself and your attitude to keep your sanity.

Keep telling yourself that you can do this job, you are not going to let them make you feel that you can't no matter what they say. Don't react to their actions, keep your cool.

I found out a lot of people who belittle or backstab are insecure themselves. Stand firm!!

If you have no option of quitting, and the problem is your boss, then you might want to read this:

If your boss is good, and if you have any leverage at all, demand changes. Try to rise above the behaviors of others and make practical recommendations for how things can improve.

The middle of nowhere part is tougher -- get a good hobby I suppose...

If I have been you, i will unload him. He reported he's decrease than severe stress this is why he did that? this is a lame excuse. If he quite loves you, he ought to have seen your emotions in the previous doing such issues. he will in no way do issues which will harm you if he quite cares for you. i comprehend you will locate somebody extra powerful than him,and by employing the way whether he says he won't do it returned, you are able to not be so specific of that. he could desire to do it returned and lie approximately it. have confidence is so considerable in a dating and he has broken it.
