I want to shut down my wireless internet to prevent hackers and people connecting to my wireless, since I do not use it. Although I do not want to shut down the internet for my whole network in the process. How would I properly stop wireless internet from my wireless router? It is a D-link, is there a switch or a window I can refer to in control panel?

Thanks

If you type 192.168.0.1 in the address bar of your web browser, it will take you to the router's config. In there you have the option of turning off the router's wireless function...

Most of the configurations of the router can be done in the administrator page.

For D-link, by default the ip address should be set to 192.168.0.1. Key in the ip address in the address bar of the web browswer and subsequently you will be prompted for user name and password.
You will be able to see a wireless tab either on top or on the side. Under that tab, you will be able to see some functions which allows you to disable your wireless.
After disabling wireless, you will still be able to surf by connecting through the ethernet cable.

Check out http://www.dlink.com/products/support.asp?pid=6&sec=0 and search for your d-link wireless router manual on their website. You should be able to find your answer in the online manual. I am a little confused though - what kind of network do you have setup that uses the dlink but is not wireless?

All you need to do is log into your Modem. Open and IE or Firefox web page... in the address bar type in the following
10.1.1.1

it will ask you for a user name and password
default is - admin - admin

there is a wireless tab in the modem setting, you need to remove the tick from the "wireless Enable" and put 1 in disable.

what kinda d-link is it?

i've got faith that the two antennas are for sign power. i'm going to be incorrect yet are you beginning off your connection window once you spot the two dlinks? while you're beginning off the relationship window you're being shown 2 instant connections interior you selection. One is probable somebody else's connection. i might %. the single with the password. if your password works then it is your connection. in case you need to use the different connection, i might tell dlink that the relationship isn't risk-free. somewhat all which skill is that somebody else can't use your connection without the password. some human beings on no account safeguard their connection. I do yet lots of my friends do no longer
