OK..here is what you need to do...BEFORE you plug the power supply into the AC POWER (ie the outlet on the wall), get a paper clip and on the connector that normally goes to the motherboard, use the paper clip to jump the green wire (power on wire) to the black wire (Ground) which is pin 14 and 15. NOW plug the cord into the wall outlet ... and make sure that if the power supply has a switch on the back of it turn that on .... the power supply will turn on and run ...
..good luck!

Ok I'll try to help. On the biggest connector on the power supply, install a jumper between the pin with the green wire and one of the black wires. A paper clip works fine. Now your power supply should be running.
Just plug in the the device using the appropriate connector and you should be good to go. At my work we use ATX power supplies all the time as 12volt and 5volt supply.

HUH, why do u want to do that, does not make any sense, u cant use a computer CDROM or hard disk if its not connected to ur computer. If u want just a CD player go buy one, if u dont want to spend much money u can get a decent CDROM player that u can hook to ur tv for around $25

You can buy external Cd's and external hard drives with their own independent power supplies!
But I do not understand your logic of doing what you want to do?
They still require a PC to run!

particular it is going to run it, no rely if this is a solid high quality skill furnish. The 9600 GT demands a 6 pin skill connector. verify your skill furnish and determine you have sufficient Amps on the 12V line for that card. i'm hoping this helped.
