I have a small lake and I want to make a decent, cheap, dingy so I can just hang out in I need some good step-by-step plans so I can make it. I would prefer if it had a mast and a rudder also.

a good resource for a dink is chesapeake light craft. I think the website is clcboats.com. They have plans and even have stitch and glue kits for a pram as well as a nice nesting dink.

I built a canoe out of cedar strips from plans and raw materials. At the same time, my neighbor built a chesapeake light craft kayak. Cost was about the same for both of us. His time for building was a lot less than mine and ended up with a fine boat.

I have a nice fiberglass dink designed and built by Robert Perry. If I didnt have that, I'd build myself a rowing/sailing pram from Chesapeake Light Craft to use as my tender.

I think a dingy could cost you more than a used small boat. One of my friends bought a dingy for his Yacht, it is very expensive. Maybe drive around the highway or the road to see if you can get a cheap used small boat. If you are plan to paddle it, you only going to need just that. You said that you have a small lake, do you own the whole small lake!!! Make sure to have a life jacket on even you dug this lake yourself with no crocodile.
