I quit drugs after I got scizopherinia I had whats called phycosis and the drugs triggered my scizopherinia. I went for two years without medication before I was prescribed and it was horrific. I kept hearing voices taunting, laughing at me, mocking me and everything I do none stop. It was like listening to thousands of people with turettes syndrome. I thought it was a big conspiracy of people against me. It was really real I always thought scizophrenics were lying to get attention but I was wrong. Anyway I'm being treated now and ever since I've been taking my medication for about 1 year now and haven't touched illegal drugs for 3 years now. Feels like forever but I'm slowly getting my life back on track. Looking for work every week in the newspapers on the internet and I'm also signed up to job search place which is good and all working well for me. But I can't wait to get back to work. I haven't been drinking much other. Anyway anyone got any stories of their own?

I have been working with alcoholics and drug addicts for 20 years. First, congratulations. Stay on the meds for schizophrenia and quit the alcohol and you should do well. I have seen many schizophrenics get into long-term recovery from addiction and live pretty normal lives. Again, congrats!

Mine is just simple. I been using cough syrup and Marijuana. I feel so good as if I am walking in the clouds when i'm high. I did it for almost one year. Probably because I neglected my meals sometimes, I suffered a lot due to stomach ulcer. My resistance went down and I caught pneumonia and became skinny. I realized my situation and stopped my vices. I have fully recoverd after a year.
