Is anyone else tired of people answering your question with the response..."Get an education" or "Read a book" or whatever smart@ss answer is meant to berate the questioner???

Hey in case you didn't know it ....people are SUPPOSED to ASK a question and then if you feel that you have an answer you are supposed to give one!

It's not that difficult!

Does anyone here know every answer to every question?

The answer is of course NO!!

There seems to be an awful lot of high horses in Y/A!

If you asked legitimate questions, you would get legitimate answers.

But mostly, you engage in your own personal rant, posed as a question.

Naturally, you get ostracized, as occurred in your silly question about the Electoral College. You simply showed yourself ignorant on the subject, but you were willing to scream your opinion...before you made yourself informed.

Some folks take a different tack, and this is the beginning of wisdom...when you don't know what you're talking about...it's best to keep quiet.

I think that in some cases when it is clear that the poster is a student trying to get some one else to do their homework, READ A BOOK or Get and education is a good answer

I dislike people who post what are suppose to be questions but they all ready have an answer in mind that they want to hear. That is not living up to the ideal of YA either is it? I mean should not we all be asking questions that we do not know the answer to?

Like Who was Warren Harding's Vice-president? (I have no clue)

I sometimes get on my high horse but when I do so, I usually give an answer like:

Try google with the keywords "find the answer here"

Of course I give real keywords so that they can actually get the best results possible. In this way, the person is able to find multiple sources for the information they want. And, having multiple sources, can make a decision as to which one is best.

Other times, I do give a concise and detailed answer. This is usually on a subject that I am intimately familiar with though.

You can ask anything you want, and they can answer anything they want. It's called freedom of expression. That's just the way this Yahoo! Answers thing works - it's democratic. There are wise a*ses out there as well as idiots - they can all answer, even if they don't know the answer.

If you don't like the answer, either give it a 'thumbs down' or flag it. And choose the answer you like as the 'best answer'.

sorry, but the political forum is more opinion (and you no what they say about opinions) oriented than educational or inquisitional. some like to have a little fun with an occasional smart a** answer, myself majorly, it helps to lighten up some rather tense subjects sometime.

yahoo answers. the way i understand it to work is you either answer someones question or you ask a question. it seems yahoo made that too difficult for some to figure out. you get those that answer with a question, because they can't waste 5 points to ask their own. then there are some that just change subjects without answering, but they may insult

Ask any reasonable question on YA politics and you get an education, an education on how ill informed, naive and closed minded people are.

Yes, I agree! And, I bet half of those people don't even know the answer in the first place. Isn't it obvious they just want 2 points? That's why I always give them a 'thumb down'. Lol.
