Because they are hoping that most people are honest, but unfortunately not everyone is. So I don't think it is a question of being naive, I think it is just not knowing who you can trust and who you can't, because some people are really convincing when it comes to being deceitful!

The problem with the Internent is the illusion of intimacy. Without face-to-face or even voice-to-voice contact, people are able to freely express their feelings and desires, especially for the very shy or those who express themselves better with the written word, like, say, newspaper columnists. At times it can seem like you are tapping directly into a person’s mind, and they into yours as inhibitions are eliminated.

Their are many people that spend a lot of time on the Internet but never interact with others online or chat or socialize on here. So they dont know how to act or what to expect when it comes to people on here.

Some people just don't think before they act. Some are very quick to trust others and that's a scary situation as some people are very vulnerable.

I think most people want to believe there are good people out there including myself. Sometimes it takes a good screwing over to believe otherwise.

it's called being too trusting. I have to admit, I have made friends online, but I don't just hand it out on a silver platter.
