i am only 8 and i'm using my aunty lis computer, she in hospital and don't have any help here from my family. the woman gets $300 in benefits and i have a list of her expenses for the fortnight but i have to change the raw data (her expenses) into percentages but i when i do i get a wrong answer one is $160 for rent i keep getting 0 which is wrong what would is $160.00 as a percent out of $300. i hope i explaned properly thankyou to everyone that is willing to help me thnkyou.

To get what percentage $160 is out of $300 you would take 160 and divide it by 300.

53.33%

I think, what you may be doing wrong is forgetting to multiply the result by 100 to get the percentage figure.

160 divided by 300 would give you 0.53 (close to zero)
BUT, to make that number a percentage, you multiply it by 100 to get 53.

53% is your answer.

x% of $300 = $160
x% - 160 / 300
x% = 0.5333333

So the rent is approximately 53% of the $300 benefits
