Is it because they are pure, and want a part of them?

They call virgins asexual, or lesbians or gays.

But think about it, your parents let's say who lived in the "40's to 60's were most likely virgins until they got married. And were they gay or asexual like the virgins of today?

Think about it.

The media shows nothing but people having sex and half the time those people in soap operas and movies aren't even married so this encourages people to lose their virginity faster. I've heard of girls losing their virginity by the age of 11 sometimes as late as 14. It's just taught that being a virgin isn't as important as it was back in the 60s and the years preceding the 60s. It's sad but the USA is losing lots of morals and sex after marriage is one thing that just isn't cherished anymore. The media teaches that it's not cool to be a virgin and if your a virgin your a loser.

That is such a good point. I'm not sure why people are so threatened by virgins. The need to "convert" them is almost like the need of a cultist to get more followers.... One young woman I went to college with was subjected to the most awful sort of treatment - everything from "mild" jokes to people arrogantly insisting on hearing "WHY" or wanting to know if she had been sexually abused.

There's nothing wrong with virginity. Once a person gets married (if that's what they want to do), all the partners they had before seem redundant and pointless. Anything you "need" to learn about sex, you can just as easily learn later in life or after the wedding. People should stop trying to "convert" virgins to help their own insecurities.

(rant) i a big issue with virgins being somehow "purer" then non-virgins sex is not an evil or amoral thing that somehow contaminates you, yes there are some dangers but if your not an idiot about it you should be fine. weather one is or is not a virgin should be of interest only to oneself and for the purposes of disease prevention only anyone you sleep with in the future (rant concluded)

it would seem that those doing the mocking are themselves sexually repressed if your cool with your own situation then people being different from you should warrant no concern, excluding legitimate interest in different outlooks and concern that this other person has issues they need to deal with. i am a virgin and have only ever encountered the latter situation yes i have had some weird conversations and a few rather amusing attempts to bring me out of my shell so to speak but all of it was well meaning if misguided.

Purity rather than promiscuity is a virtue and to be highly respected. By modern standards a virgin is considered a 'loser'. It should not be so. Your body is yours and do not let anybody take that way from you. Virgins are not gay or lesbians. You have nothing to prove to anyone. To go to your marriage bed a virgin is the highest form of true womanhood.

Because nothing is as comical as hearing someone with no prospects make long speeches about their future purity and then discard their beliefs three years later, when they get a life.

Oh and you might want to recheck that claim that most people were virgins at the time of marriage in the 40s to 60s. To many 7 month babies to accept that claim.

Virgins are pure, and they are have pure good hearts, unlike someone who already has sex.

Most who wait usually last longer in marriage because they have not experienced it with someone else, so no comparison.

Because society is losing it's morals. I blame the media.
I don't really know the answer, but it's getting worse, kids below me were having sex in the middle school bathrooms. When I was that age I barely knew what sex was.

When most of parents were first starting out they were not hit full face with the sexual revolution. Once that sexual revolution came on, everything has been based upon sex appeal, sex sells and sex attracts.
