America is a continent, as such it did not move much...

Kidding aside, there were several manned missions (I will skip the unmanned ones): Apollo 8 and Apollo 10 went to the moon but did not land -- they were not meant to, they just went around and, in the case of Apollo 10, tried the lunar landing hardware in moon's orbit.
Apollo 11, 12, 14, 15, 16 and 17 (between 1969 and 1972) each landed 2 astronaut on the moon, while Apollo 13 just went around and came right back since an explosion had crippled the service module.

So, depending if your definition means reaching or actually landing on the moon, there would either be 9 or 6 missions.

The rest of the planet laughs about the 'dumbing down of america' and after looking at these answers there is no need to wonder why. The USA was involved in not only an arms race in the 1960's but a space race. Just as the germans developed triangulation methods for detecting the location of radio signals during WW2, the russians and chinese both had this ability in the 1960's. If the USA faked a moon landing the russians AND the chinese would have BOTH detected that the human voice signals had either been bounced or earth based. So to fake a moonlanding you would ALSO have to have a global conspiracy to cover it up. If you stooges would actually crack some science text books rather then a crack pipe you would know this. The only reason people say there wasn't a moon landing is because it is easier to market a conspiracy book then a SCIENCE book, because there is more stupid people willing to waste their money on that kind of book then to actually STUDY a science book. EVERYTHING AND ANYTHING the USA does in space is INSTANTLY tracked by russia and china EVEN TODAY! So my advice to you guys is get off the crack pipe and start cracking some science books and stop letting slick marketers take your hard earned money by selling you totally half baked ideas about what reality is.

AGAIN, which is easier to sell to the public, a tape or book saying the moon landing were a GLOBAL conspiracy fraud OR a SCIENCE book about landing on the moon that REQUIRES a person to ACTUALLY STUDY science?

the dumbing down of america is once again confirmed on this site.

Amazingly sad that it was four answers in before you got a right or serious answer,

Anyway, Apollo 8 and Apollo 10 were lunar orbit missions, Apollo 11, 12, 14, 15, 16 and 17 were lunar landing missions, and Apollo 13 was supposed to be a lunar landing mission but the landing was scrubbed after the oxygen tank explosion that crippled the spacecraft. Nonetheless, it did go around the Moon. So, in total, nine manned flights have been to the Moon and back.

Never. Well now that I have your attention I will be serious about my answer. We landed on the Moon 6 times. The first was July 20, 1969.
