Well, I would say PHILOSOPHY is all about RATIONALISM which by its very definition is all about "Reliance" on "Reasons" to validate everything- both our actions & beliefs. And reasoning is mostly done by our mind whereas the heart always has its own agenda filled with emotions and feelings. And in real life most often these two are never at peace- they clash and seldom listens to each other. Sometimes following our emotions seems more logical & sometimes following logic makes more sense. But in either way we still do need our mind to give us a reason to follow or not to follow something. So I would say philosophy is a section where the MINDS meet together that's- we bring all our minds together in its most rationalistic form to make sense of everything & also to scrutinize all our emotions, feelings, actions & beliefs under the light of wisdom and reasoning. .
And since philosophy gives us a neutral & unbiased platform to explore things, so I guess we kind of feel pretty much comfortable to analyze and question beyond our self imposed inhibitions & prejudice which in itself is a great blessing I believe & without which, I think our world would be pretty much in a lost state.

Okay... I don't have the knowledge base for a good philosophical argument like the others on here, but here is my take on philosophy:
Philosophy is thinking and processing information and the attitudes that go with that information so an individual can determine what (s)he believes. After belief comes the onus of acting in a manner that supports belief. These are part of a whole... if they exist independently, they are useless.
To answer the question, minds meet and recognise each other, hearts meet and recognise each other, and the is the necessity of the clash as well. Were there no clash, no challenge, there would be no learning. So... the answer (for me) is both... it would be boring any other way.

That sounds like Platonic love :D
We don't know anyone on this site so...I say the minds meet but not the heart. But hey, since we are on the philosophy section, shouldn't I be asking "hmm..what is the difference between the mind and the heart?..hmm, how do we know?..indeed WHY? oh why?"
Sometimes the minds also clash. This is reality- a constant flux of contradiction and amalgamation. All we do is gradually adapt and change our own views for the better or reject our views etc.

Well, you do stipulate here, the Philosophy Section and not Philosophy or the Heart of itself.
Therefore, allow this stretch hereby...
At the threshold between the High and Low Planes of the God Worlds, these two -- the mind and Heart -- work in alignment with still other, say, inner bodies, of which one is the Emotional body -- but ! -- and get this -- the Emotional body is 'not' to be confused with the Heart.
This is a mistaken knowledge or understanding that has cast down through the ages, from which mistake nothing could be further.
A Soul truly does seek of alignment with all the inner bodies, and for each of us, it is by means of this mighty and living complement, the Heart, that this attainment arises. The Heart is the mightiest and most unswervingly serving of all the censors of the thoughts, feelings, and acts of Man -- operating at a level far and away from the censors working at the lower bodies, of which the Mind and Subconscious bodies are but two of these.
The Heart is what the Mind, emotions and all the others have in common, and is closest to that of Soul Itself and adjudged by Existence and abided by God the best creation to serve of this purpose.
While the emotional body is itself a powerful thing and does serve of great purpose as an essential part of expressing the nature of Soul and the laws of God -- and does serve both well, I say again and emphatically it is not the Heart.
Aligned, there are no clashes, whether below, at, or above the threshold. Misaligned, however, such misunderstandings as confusing the heart with something of no more than an emotional thing does resolve to great errors.

Philosophy is an abstraction which can assume concrete
forms as scientific philosophy and romantic philosophy.
The more types of philosophy, the more likelihood for a clash.
In my opinion, the more clashes the merrier which doesn't
necessarily mean clashing is a good practice, but rather
it is better to accept clashing as an appropriate opinion
in order to avoid a double standard of allowing some
clashing and disallowing for others. Freedom of
speech must prevail over even the most well-intended
censorship. I believe Yahoo! Answers policies do us and our
freedom justice.

Well, philosophy should be a place for minds, but naturally a lot of people are led by there hearts here. I suppose the two clash, but there would be clashing whether it was minds with minds, hearts with hearts, or hearts with minds. We're all unique, so no matter what part of us we put forward, there are going to be differences.
It's good to listen to our hearts, because they can give us clues that the mind could never see on its own. But once you start working the kinks out of the philosophical minutae, the mind should be taking over!

There's a lot of great people in Y!A, I'd like to meet all of them. Maybe we should have a gathering for wrestling section user so we could meet one another and watch some wrestlings. It would be awesome if at least I could meet all my contacts. WQ1: I think between those two Shelton Benjamin is more athletic, based on what he's done in MiTB ladder match. WQ2: That would be Kofi Kingston. He's like a male version of Melina. WQ3: They used to call the move by that name. That's an excusable mistake since its the previous name of the move. Its called Killswitch now.

As philosophy is the love of, and pursuit of, wisdom, I reckon it's where minds meet. Whether they clash or not depends on how wise they are - for the wise, disagreement is interesting and a gift. Whether what people call "the heart" meets there too, also depends on how wise the minds are. Emotions can hold wisdom, or folly. The wise can tell the difference.

Philosophy means 'love for wisdom'. So at the first view it seems closer to the mind, yet human mind is not such a perfect (though surely incredibly organized) system to reach the absolute wisdom. Heart can stimulate to rush for it, representing the non-logic (otherwise why to rush for impossible)? So philosophy is the clash (hehe! the Clash is not philosophy!) but it's a question of proportion as well, of the percent of heart and mind.

It's never just one or the other in life. I'm talking about anything we can try to sort into categories...like this question (but you know that)...
so here in the philosophy section I'd have to say there may be even more shades of gray where the subtleties merge...because of the desire for thinking and 'questing' people that visit this section.
I love this forum...it really makes me happy =)
I have met more like minds here than in my real world travels, at least as far as actual sharing of deeper subjects.
so if I have to choose I'd say i have eyes to see minds and hearts meeting rather than clashing...maybe it's just because of the questions and answers I choose to participate in??
