Granting amnesty shows a lack of respect for law. When people don't respect law they are more likely to ignore it in the future. This is true for Congress and the illegal aliens.

A better approach is to make legal immigration easier and let illegals leave and come back through the door.

No, but some form of it is probably the only immigration plan that will get through both houses and the President. One has to remember that Presidents Bush (both) are moderates so a middle of the road plan should be no surprise. Clinton did the same thing when he became President pretending to be a liberal then pulled the Democratic party to the center and showed them how to win elections (although they promptly forgot). He stabbed the left in the back and Presidents Bush stabbed the conservatives in the back but both were re-elected. It would be interesting to see what the voters would do if a far-left (relative to US politics) ticket such as Clinton/Obama or Edwards were to be pitted against a far-right (again, relative to US politics - there is no right wing in the USA) ticket such as Gingrich/Cheney. The extremes can generally only hope to influence the middle - they rarely win Presidential elections anymore (Lincoln may have been the last).

Amnesty will completely change the dynamic of this great country. It is a victory for Socialism. It will screw over the American Worker. Not only will Mexicans drive down wages they also will use things like welfare that will lead to increased taxes.

Just like Teddy Kennedy failed this nation with his proposal of the 1965 1.1 million added immigrants annually and again with his 1986 amnesty for 3.4 million illegal aliens -- his enclaved-in-the-senate-forever addicted-mind cannot understand what he bequeaths future generations.

We must 'sour the milk.' Bring out your points in the call:
1. America cannot support another 100 million people added to our country in 34 years, i.e., water crisis, resource depletion, air pollution, gridlock, loss of quality of life, etc.
2. America cannot support lawbreakers being given citizenship.
3. America must maintain our English language.
4. America wants only legal immigrants who play by the rules and speak English.
5. America's working poor deserve a chance at jobs taken by illegals.
6. America already has too many people and I support a 10 year moratorium on all immigration.
7. Americans must maintain our schools for our children.
8. We can no longer tolerate 350,000 birthright citizens (anchor babies) annually that subtract from our own citizens.
9. Attrition through enforcement by stopping their ability to wire money home, obtain rental housing and jobs.
10. An amnesty failed in 1986, and it will only be worse today. We're being displaced out of our jobs and out of our own country. Call with relentless and never-give-up passion.
