That depends on the amount of Ram/Memory, resources you have in your system. Plus program installed that are a hugh memory hog.

I run four antispyware programs.
http://www.superantispyware.com
http://www.emsisoft.com
http://www.trendmicro.com
http://lavasoft.com

And one antivirus as you will have conflict with more then one. http://www.filseclab. Has a background scanner, plus a unique scanner called Dynamic Memory Scanner, to catch zero day attacks.

I show zero resources being used in my Task Mgr.

Programs like Nortons are resource hogs and will eat you alive.

Both programs are able to coincide together without slowing down your computer anymore than they normally would running alone. In my opinion I would use AVG because it does not slow down your computer nearly as much as Norton or any other big name brand generally does, and it has most of the same features. Even if it does not have the same features you want you will probably be able to find some free software out there that does.

Yes, scanning together will slow down ur computer.
And both take some RAM hence they slow down, and if u hv less RAM then the effect is big.
