Mild pains on one side should not concern you.
The signs of ectopic pregnancy are sharp or constant pains on one side, bleeding, a rise in blood pressure, etc. For many women the pain is so sharp they can hardly stand up. Some women also experience dizziness or fainting and increased heart rate.
With all three of my pregnancies I had mild cramping, and sometimes it would just be on one side. You might also have pains when the ligaments on either side of the uterus start to stretch.
I would not suggest going to a doctor unless the pain becomes sharp or is accompanied by another symptom.

if the pains are shooting and coming from your side to the middle of your tummy, then it may be. If you are concerned, call your doctor and tell them how you are feeling and that you ARE concerned. They will get you in and take a look.
Just remember, that a lot of women have cramping (like monthly cramps) and once side may be a little tender for a while (because that would be the side that the egg was fertilized) So you may be just fine. Normally, from what I understand... ectopic pregnancy can be pretty painful.
Call your doc tomorrow and try to get in so that they can make sure everything is ok. You do not want to let it go if that is the case, because you would be putting your life at risk if your fallopian tube were to burst.
Good Luck, and I hope everything is ok and you are just experiencing the normal pains.... :)

When I first found out I was pregnant, I experienced sharp pains that were on my left side as well. They really worried me because my sister had a ectopic pregnancy. But some mild aches and pains are completely normal. What I was experiencing is probably the same as you, and its those ligaments starting to stretch, and it does hurt. If the pain gets worse and worse to where you just can't take it, go to the doctor asap. If its minor, you're probably fine, but it never hurts to double check. Its better to over worry then to not worry enough...especially when it comes to your baby.

Ectopic pregnancy can be difficult to diagnose because symptoms often mirror those of a normal early pregnancy. These can include missed periods, breast tenderness, nausea, vomiting, or frequent urination.
Pain is usually the first red flag. You might feel pain in your pelvis, abdomen, or, in extreme cases, even your shoulder or neck (if blood from a ruptured ectopic pregnancy builds up
and irritates certain nerves). Most women describe the pain as sharp and stabbing. It may concentrate on one side of the pelvis, and it may come and go or vary in intensity.
Any of the following additional symptoms can suggest an ectopic pregnancy:
* vaginal spotting or bleeding
* dizziness or fainting (caused by blood loss)
* low blood pressure (also caused by blood loss)
* lower back pain
i suggest going to the doctor

i would def call your doc. pain in one side is a common symptoms, but it could be something else too. i would call your doc in the morning, if an ectopic pregnancy goes for too long, it can be dangerous to you so it should def be checked out. most likely, since you just found out youre preggo, i assume youre not real far along, it should be fine to wait until the morning unless the pain gets really bad, then have your doc paged and see what the say. they may want you to go to the hospital. good luck!!

I had mild pains on my left side shortly after I got pregnant. It went away after a few weeks. I have a normal healthy pregnancy. If the pain becomes severe, it's something to be concerned about. Otherwise, I am sure that you are fine.

I had pains like that on my right side and they told me that it was a strained ligament from your belly stretching. You might have just moved wrong and that might have happened to you. Ask your dr. just to be safe though. Everyone is different. Good luck!!

You need to see a doctor IMMEDIATELY, if not go to the Emergency Room. Ectopic pregnancies can be fatal. Please get this checked out ASAP.
