Probably about 100 ft. We were in a restuarant in Great Falls Montana during a thunderstorm. All of a sudden there was a large bang and all the glass coffee pots exploded. We went outside and a strip the size of a 2 by 6 75 ft. long had been cut from a tall pine tree.

Really close I got caught in a bad storm last year...a lighting bolt hit the manhole right in front of me.

A ligtning bolt hit a transformer right as I drove by, it made a huge bang and blew up, it was dark out and the explosion blinded me for a few seconds...freaked me out!

i remember i was on the way to the music store and right down the street i see a lightning bolt.

Two times, in my car.
1st time it hit the trunk of the car in front of me. The gas tank exploded and the car ran off the road.
2nd time it hit the road beside a van in front of me. Asphalt blew everywhere.
