With busy schedules, about how often are players at home with their families? Thanks!

The season is approximately 182 days long (183 for the Sunday night opener teams, 181 for teams that don't begin play until Tuesday), within which 162 games are scheduled. Since pre-scheduled doubleheaders are essentially dead, that leaves 20 open days (which, IIRC, is mandated in the CBA), 81 home dates, 81 road dates. As an estimate, teams are home 81 nights, but there's some variability -- there's no real travel for the same-city interleague series, some players go to the All-Star Game while most get a three-day break, and anyone traded might find himself traveling over 100 days in the season. Figure it's between 80 and 90 days for most of them, though.

The schedule is evenly split between home and road games for each team.

Some players' families live in the same city in which the player has a contract, or in a suburb of that city. For others, the family joins the player during the summer.

This is a family decision and as often as not, depends on the ages of the children. The answer differs for every player.

There are 162 games in a season but only 82 on the road and the players probably see there family about 20 times out of 162 games and they sometimes sit out to see there family and give the rookies a chance to play.
