Does anybody else think "What Not to Wear" is cruel?

They often are so harsh the person subjected is almost crying and they throw away entire wardrobes. Do they give these to charity or the dump? Yes I know that some of these people featured on the show need the harshness to get through thier delusions. It just seems that the hosts are trying to dress everyone in a cookie cutter way in different sizes.

I agree! Those clothes could be donated to a charity.
They do seem to think everyone should dress the same, and wear 'foot-crippler' shoes [ pointy, stilletto heeled nightmares ].
I don't always like what the hosts are wearing either.

they do give the clothes to charity. they still let the contestants show their personalities w/ their clothes, but in a more attractive way. they always end up saying that they feel so good about themselves

I agree. There was a really cute alternative punkish chick on there once and I wanted to cry for her. She had her own style and they didn't like it so they threw all her stuff away and trying to completely change her style. I thought that was pretty shitty.

Well people mite think im weird if i say this but- i dont think its cruel!! its just giving people a sense of style for a change!!! but it is kinda sad cuz they make u give up ur own sense of style...

i think they are good.. they are honest and try to get the ppl to buy clothes that fit their shapes better. they also try to work in the pesons independent fashion/interests an whatever works best for their lifestyle

sometimes when they dont let the ppl keep stuff that means a lot to them when their throwing out all their stuff( =
